No “King”

It’s official. Yesterday I joined President Trump at the White House, where he signed my legislation to reverse Newsom’s gas-car ban “once and for all.” Californians can now continue to drive the cars of their choice. In “King”-like fashion, Newsom tried to outlaw the vast majority of vehicles driven by Californians without any vote whatsoever.

In “King”-like fashion, Newsom tried to outlaw the vast majority of vehicles driven by Californians without any vote whatsoever. When I forced a vote to finally happen, he suffered a bipartisan rebuke. As I said on Fox, sanity is returning to America – and even to California.

Meanwhile, Newsom’s unhinged behavior has reached new extremes. My message, in a House Floor Speech, is the Governor owes an apology to our dedicated National Guard members for absurdly trying to blame the violence in LA when his own reckless policies are to blame.

As one example, I joined Fox News to call for the immediate reversal of the Sanctuary State. It is California and LA’s sanctuary policies, after all, that prevent dangerous criminals from being apprehended in jails; instead, they are released into the community.

In addition, it’s come to light that a “nonprofit” behind the riots, known as CHIRLA, donated $500,000 to support Newsom’s campaign. The group then received $34 million in state funding, which it used to track ICE agents and give rioters their precise locations in real time.

I am introducing legislation providing that an organization involved in unlawful riots is ineligible for public funding and loses its tax-exempt status. I’m also working on a bill to increase penalties for disrupting immigration and law enforcement operations and assaulting federal officers.

The whole world has now seen what a mess Newsom has made of our state. At the same time, we are ending his disastrous policies one by one. This is nothing less than a fight for our state and a country – and it is one we are winning.

Last night, I joined Laura Ingraham in-studio on Fox News with a message for Gavin Newsom. He is entirely to blame for the chaos that has engulfed Los Angeles.

Indeed, if there’s a script for inciting lawlessness and putting citizens at risk, Newsom and Karen Bass have followed it the letter. They’ve let dangerous criminals into the country and out of jails, adopted obstructive sanctuary policies, used incendiary rhetoric, and funded radical groups.

I made this clear in a speech on the House Floor: California’s radical political leadership has done everything possible to usher in this chaos we are seeing. And just moments ago, the court rejected Newsom’s request for an “emergency” order to remove the National Guard.

At the moment, Newsom is as unhinged as he has ever been. Even before the riots, he threatened to have California stop paying taxes to the federal government. As I noted on Newsmax, this was essentially a threat to secede from the union.

I might have thought perhaps Newsom was threatening to default on the $20 billion federal loan he took out – but he already did that. Now, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has now joined me in pointing out Newsom may be committing felony tax evasion.

Meanwhile in DC, I held a hearing of my Subcommittee about the risks of excessive screentime by young people in our schools. And this Thursday, our victory over Newsom will be complete: President Trump will sign my Resolution to reverse the gas-powered cars.

Off the Rails

In February, I joined Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy to announce an investigation of High-Speed Rail. The findings are in: California is woefully “out-of-compliance” with federal requirements, there is “no viable path forward,” and $4 billion in funding will be terminated.  This is the beginning of the end for the High-Speed Rail disaster. This is the beginning of the end for the High-Speed Rail disaster. Once again, we are delivering on our plan to Newsom-Proof California. And Newsom, who recently lost in court yet again, has been reduced to paying people to troll me online at taxpayer expense.

In another win: we’ve succeeded in pressuring San Francisco to cancel its new “Grading for Equity” policy. This should stop the preposterous plan – Fs are Cs, Bs are As, homework/tests are ungraded, truancy is unpunished, etc. – from spreading statewide.

I’ve also warned Newsom that his illegal quest to destroy girls’ sports will have consequences. The CIF has done what it can in response to my letter (creating a third “division”), but this is wholly inadequate. We still face a loss of funding if Newsom keeps his disgraceful policy.

Meanwhile, I discussed on Fox how we are reversing the decay of America universities. And in an Education hearing, I spoke with Secretary of Education Linda McMahon about how we can stop Newsom’s latest attempts to indoctrinate students and deprive them of a decent education.

And yet in Sacramento, so much insanity remains. In a vote on the Assembly Floor, the runaway Supermajority voted to raise gas prices another 65 cents by maintaining CARB’s new “low carbon fuel standard.” I wish I could say I was shocked.

Two months ago, I wrote Newsom and the CIF about the “continued defiance of federal law in allowing biological males to compete in female athletics.” Yesterday, they finally took limited action, creating a separate “transgender” division so the girls division is preserved.

This comes as President Trump is about to sign my legislation reversing Newsom’s gas-car ban. We’ve also countered Newsom disasters by making crime illegal again, banning homeless encampments, and ending free Medi-Cal for illegal immigrants.

The clearest sign we have Newsom on the ropes: his focus has shifted from trying to inflict his insane policies on our state to trying to save face as we get them reversed. Among his tactics:

  • Convolution: On girls’ sports, creating a whole new division with its own trophies rather than simply recognize common sense and biological reality.
  • Temper tantrums: On the gas-car ban, lashing out at “MAGA Republicans” and filing a lawsuit, ignoring the 36 Democrats who supported my Resolution.
  • Half-measures: On Medi-Cal, finally heeding our call to end free benefits for illegal immigrants, but letting those already enrolled stay for $100/month.
  • Reinventing reality: Trying to take credit for our homeless Supreme Court win, even though he urged the opposite outcome.
  • Obstruction: Interfering with Prop. 36 by withholding funding for it.

None of these tactics will undercut our victories. Their sole purpose is to limit Newsom’s humiliation – though they may have just the opposite effect.

Meanwhile in DC, my debate with Jasmine Crockett went viral, showcasing the radicalism of House Democrats. I also highlighted how California voters have rejected DEI policies and how Newsom’s latest regulation will lead to $10/gallon gas.

Finally, San Francisco has come up with a new “Grading for Equity” for its schools. Fs are now Cs; Bs are now As; homework and tests are ungraded; truancy is unpunished; and finals can be re-taken again and again. With every victory for sanity comes a new wave of insanity.

“A Big One”

It’s over. The Senate just joined the House in passing my Resolution to stop Newsom’s gas-car ban. It now heads to President Trump’s desk. This is a bipartisan national repudiation of the utter insanity Newsom has inflicted on our state.  The Sacramento Bee headline put it this way: “Kevin Kiley scores win against longtime nemesis

It’s over. The Senate just joined the House in passing my Resolution to stop Newsom’s gas-car ban. It now heads to President Trump’s desk. This is a bipartisan national repudiation of the utter insanity Newsom has inflicted on our state.

The Sacramento Bee headline put it this way: “Kevin Kiley scores win against longtime nemesis Gavin Newsom.” The article continues: “Kiley won one Thursday against his nemesis Gavin Newsom. A big one…It was arguably Kiley’s biggest triumph over his nemesis yet.”

But truly, this was a victory for all Californians and all Americans. In particular, it was another triumph for our movement to restore sanity in our state, coming on the heels of our huge win forcing Newsom to abandon his policy of free Medi-Cal for illegal immigrants.

But alas, plenty of insanity remains. We just got news (1) High-Speed Rail’s initial Bakersfield-Merced line will cost $3.2 billion more, bringing the total to $38.5 billion; and (2) CARB’s new regulations will raise gas prices 50 cents, making $9/gallon possible next year.

Meanwhile, in DC, I cast the deciding vote for historic legislation that brings unprecedented resources to secure the border, builds a “Golden Dome” to protect our country, sparks a School Choice Revolution across America, and gives Californians, for once, major tax relief.

In the Education and Workforce Committee, I received a full hearing on bills I’ve introduced to protect independent contractors. And in Judiciary, I debated none other than Rep. Jasmine Crockett on questions of Constitutional law – of which she has some rather bizarre notions.

And finally, the release of the Biden/Hur tapes vindicated our efforts to get the recordings released last year over the lawless obstruction of the Biden Administration. I’m calling for accountability for all who were complicit in this historic cover-up.
