A federal court just stopped Joe Biden from ending Title 42. This is very good news. But in the Legislature, the latest news isn’t as good.
First, the “Public Safety” Committee again voted against my bill to overturn Prop. 47, electing to let California remain the smash-and-grab capital of the world. Second, after rejecting my bill to suspend the gas tax four times, the Legislature is now making the tax go up on July 1.
It’s a tribute to the sheer insanity of the Supermajority that they find ways to outdo Gavin Newsom. The “Vaccine Work Group” bills, of course, are the clearest example. That leads to a third development: while we’ve killed the worst bills, 3 passed committees this week.
- SB 1479: imposes an onerous school COVID testing mandate
- SB 1018: requires social media companies to disclose how “health information” is displayed (perhaps a preemptive strike against ex-Californian of the Year Elon Musk)
- AB 1797: reduces privacy of the California Immunization Record Database
As to Elon, James Gallagher and I have tried to pass legislation to stop social media censorship. I hope that within a very short time all Americans will look back in horror at how we allowed censorship to become a norm in public discourse.
Social media bias is one problem; traditional media lies are another. The Sacramento Bee has made it clear they’re going to attack me nonstop through Election Day, even publishing a ridiculous cartoon.
Our opponents can see we’re on the verge of an incredibly important victory. They know what a threat our citizens movement is to the corrupt ruling class that is ruining our state and now wants to ruin our country. They are going to pull out all the stops these next few weeks.
