Thanks to all for the kind feedback on Thursday’s debate, which was broadcast to 22 million Californians. I was grateful to be named the winner by 81 percent of viewers in the network’s post-debate poll.

Yesterday I visited an amazing charter school where students were happy and learning. The school has stayed open, made masks optional, and offered a flourishing independent study option. It was a reminder of what’s at stake in the Recall.
Newsom wants charters gone, wants masks worn indefinitely, and is threatening another school shutdown. He also continues to play politics with the vaccine, announcing a “first in the nation” passport requirement for public events.
And now he’s called upon a cast of national characters to rescue him: Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and even Joe Biden. I’ll look forward to their explanation as to why Californians deserve a state government that is outperformed by all 49 others.
As those of us who actually live here know, California leads the nation in all the wrong ways. That’s why so many people of all party affiliations are voting YES. There’s nothing to lose.
