Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper reports a serial rapist sentenced to three life terms is free in the county. Cooper, a Democrat, blamed Sacramento politicians: “How can anyone in state government tell me how that correlates, going from three life terms to 22 years?”
It was Richard Pan’s vote that let him out. Another Pan vote allowed the release of David Funston, who abused seven young children after luring them to his car with candy. It is no wonder Pan’s campaign strategy is hiding from voters and relying on lies from Super PACs.
The main Super PAC backing Pan just boasted it’s spent over $5 million. And that is only the beginning of Pan’s money questions.
For instance, as a state legislator I voluntarily gave up $40,000 in per diem every year, returning the money to taxpayers. Richard Pan took about $200,000 in per diem despite living a few miles from the Capitol and used these taxpayer funds to buy himself a condo.
Meanwhile, Pan recently emerged from hiding to campaign with Xavier Becerra. When asked why the race is tied even though Newsom redrew the district for him, Pan claimed he would "crush" me if voters knew our records. Yet he refuses to TV or even do interviews.
Meanwhile, gas prices in California are nearly $2 above the national average. I discussed on NBC National my Gas Tax Reduction Act to stop politicians like Pan and Newsom from raising the tax again. (Pan recently said: “I do not regret my vote” that has more than doubled the tax.)
Elsewhere, I appeared with Senator Joe Manchin on CNN where he gave me his “1,000 percent” endorsement, and I’m calling for an investigation after millions of California students had their data compromised.
Election Day is in two weeks. Newsom and his enablers have thrown everything they can at us. Yet in spite of all, we have fought back and now have a chance to make history.
