We reversed Newom’s ban on gas-powered cars. So now, the state is banning tires instead.
The Tire Ban, touted by Newsom, will make 70 percent of existing tires illegal and could cost consumers hundreds of dollars. I am looking at every possible avenue to stop it – just as I’ve formally requested HHS disapprove Newsom’s new healthcare tax.
This comes as I debated Richard Pan in a forum that was nationally televised on CSPAN. You can watch the hour-long debate here. It immediately became clear why Pan refused to debate for months and has now promptly resumed his strategy of hiding from voters:
- He read his opening statement, closing statements, and question off a paper handed to him by DCCC party bosses.
- He repeatedly refused to answer yes or no questions, and even one of the Bee’s moderators referred to his responses as “word salad.”
- Asked why he wants seniors to keep up less of their Social Security benefits – up to $2,640 less – Pan called these benefits “crumbs.” (Watch the stunning exchange).
- Pan said “I do not regret my vote” to raise the gas tax. Because of Pan’s deciding vote, the tax has more than doubled from 27.8 cents to 63.4 cents.
- Pan has said “abolish ICE,” yet at the debate denied saying abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. It turns out he didn’t know what ICE stands for or what they do.
Elsewhere, I took the stage at the Tahoe Summit to mark the passage of our landmark legislation to protect Lake Tahoe. And I took part in a poignant celebration of the first homes rebuilt in Grizzly Flats five years after the Caldor Fire.
Meanwhile, we launched our Students for Kiley coalition, highlighting how Newsom and Pan’s draconian lockdowns and school closures were so costly for our kids. It was inspiring to hear directly from so many young people fighting for our state’s future.
