With just 1 day now remaining until the End-of-Year Deadline, I thought this was the time to let you know a little more about the choice voters will face next year.
Simply put, there would be no greater triumph imaginable for Newsom than to have Jessica Morse replace us in the House. You can help make sure that doesn’t happen with a donation in time for our Year-End Deadline.
Morse was appointed as a “Deputy Secretary” by Gavin Newsom in early 2019. She spent almost 5 years working for Newsom before resigning to run against us. Morse began her campaign by declaring: “Kevin Kiley is a problem.” Which of course perfectly summarizes the view of Newsom and his cronies.
It’s clear the entirety of Newsom’s political operation is now devoted to elevating Morse and ousting us. For example, Newsom’s Chief of Staff was trolling me on Twitter/X throughout the Fox News Debate; this apparently gave too much away, as she then promptly deleted her account.
But Morse didn’t just work for Newsom. She praised him. She campaigned for him. She said, “I am so proud to serve Gavin Newsom.”
Morse recently came out against my Amendment to stop toddler mask mandates. It passed the House with bipartisan support, yet Morse was stridently against it. And it’s no wonder: she was a lead propogandist and public shamer behind Newsom’s authoritarian COVID policies.
In September of 2021 she called opposition to mask and vaccine mandates a form of “domestic extremism,” writing: “An American insurgency is growing, manifesting in local protests around masks and vaccines.”
Morse staunchly supported Newsom’s school shutdowns, suggesting that asking “America’s children to go to school” is “asking America’s children to get COVID.”
In an October 2021 post about COVID vaccines, she declared: “We turn our focus now to 28 million kids 5-11.” Her boss Newsom, of course, had just issued a vaccine mandate for all California schoolchildren (which we eventually forced him to withdraw in humiliation).
When Biden announced his national employee vaccine mandate, which applied to 84 Americans, Morse enthusiastically endorsed it and claimed opponents were motivated by “ideology.” In December 2021, she applauded Newsom’s “booster mandate” for healthcare workers.
Morse excitedly endorsed Newsom’s statewide mask mandate, declaring: “Okay California, masks on!” Soon thereafter, she posted a photo shaming workers “not wearing masks” while working outside. (“Do better Chevron!”) She also claimed that a “gathering without masks” is “as deadly as firing guns into the air.”
Yet it isn’t just with respect to COVID that Morse has promoted and celebrated Newsom’s most destructive policies.
She launched her campaign with an “exclusive” Sacramento Bee interview railing against parents’ rights. She promoted Newsom’s absurd claim that increased crime is a “Fox News” myth. She supported Newsom’s new proposed gas tax, which even the Democrat Supermajority rejected. She opposed the right of high school students to say a prayer before sporting events. She called Newsom’s selection of a Maryland resident as our U.S. Senator a “phenomenal choice.”
She supported the Reparations Task Force which is proposing $800 billion in taxpayer funded payments from Californians. She is one of the most anti-police candidates ever to run for Congress, repeatedly attacking law enforcement with statements likes, “Police were protecting themselves, not the community.”
Perhaps the only person Morse loves more than Newsom is Kamala Harris. After the 2020 election she gave Kamala the all-caps treatment: “WELCOME VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS!!” Morse regularly quotes not just Newsom and Kamala, but Eric Swalwell and Members of the Squad in Congress. She and Swalwell share a campaign manager.
Our race was always going to be on the DCCC “Target” list simply because of the fundamentals: it is one of a small fraction of districts nationwide that is almost evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats. What’s more, our district was the tipping point seat that clinched the GOP Majority last year, firing Nancy Pelosi as Speaker.
Yet we will take even more incoming fire than even the most targeted seats, for a simple reason: we are now regarded as the leading opponent of Newsom. He sees us as an obstacle to his delusional presidential ambitions. That’s why the campaign against us is going to be enormously funded and unrelentingly negative. Morse is now a full-time candidate for Congress, devoted entirely to spending the resources Newsom directs her way on attacks against us.
For example, in denying California has the nation’s highest rate of U-Haul rentals under Newsom (it does), she said, “wishing we could rent Kevin Kiley a one-way U-Haul and send him packing.” She even accused me of a “a complete dereliction of his oath to the Constitution,” which couldn’t be more ironic coming from a Newsom aide.
This is the highest stakes test yet of our movement to stop Newsom and restore sanity. And we simply will not be able to prevail if we don’t have the resources to match what Morse, Newsom’s allies, and the National Democrats are going to spend.
With the Year-End deadline so close, I’d be tremendously grateful for your support.
Thank you!
Kevin
