CNN has a new show based on California, and I was just the second-ever guest. The first was Newsom. That meant I had a chance to respond directly to his absurd argument that Prop. 50 is “fighting fire with fire.”
Under that tortured logic, I said, the whole world burns – just as California has, both literally and figuratively, during Newsom's failed governorship. I’ve also made the closing argument against Prop. 50 on CBS, Fox News, Meet the Press, Fox Business, and in a Washington Examiner feature.
The good news is the voters are with us. A poll just yesterday showed that 72 percent of Californians support the Citizens Redistricting Commission. The bad news is Newsom’s entire campaign is based on deception; he has spent $100 million trying to mislead people.
There’s a reason he doesn’t even show his rigged map on the ballot: Princeton University gave it an "F" grade and called it one of the two worst gerrymanders in 50 years. We’re already #1 in poverty, unemployment, and homelessness. Now Newsom wants us to be #1 in gerrymandering.
Elsewhere, Newsom is keeping very close tabs on the White House ballroom. Yet he claims ignorance as to the State Capitol a block from his office, where an extravagant "renovation" is costing taxpayers $1.2 billion – and legislators refuse to say how much the cost has grown.
Newsom even accused me of voting for the Capitol renovation, when in fact I voted against it as confirmed by journalists. Just like he accused me of “lying” about High-Speed Rail (after we cut off his funding) but went silent when I asked him to take me for a ride on the train if it exists.
With Election Day Tuesday, and Richard Pan now our declared opponent, the stakes have never been higher. Please share this message with our fellow Californians:
Remember to vote NO on Prop. 50. Vote by Mail, vote by Drop Box, vote by Voting Center, vote on Election Day (Nov. 4). Any will do. Vote because California is worth fighting for.
