The California Supermajority has backtracked. After I blasted the Legislature for killing legislation that would make sexually exploiting 16-year-olds a felony, the bill has thankfully been reinstated. For once, basic decency prevailed.

This victory in Sacramento follows our major win in DC, where my Resolution to reverse Newsom’s gas-car ban passed in a bipartisan vote. As I noted on Fox, we’ve also reversed his ban on trucks, buses, trains, lawn mowers, and leaf blowers.

Newsom’s latest stunt is creating a new website to counter supposed “misinformation” about his failures as Governor. Yet no sooner had the farcical website been launched than the latest evidence of those failures rushed in:

  • A new study shows gas prices in California could reach $8/gallon next year. I spoke on the House Floor demanding Newsom reverse the insane policies that caused this disaster.
  • Newsom’s ruinous policy of Medi-Cal for illegal immigrants has grown in cost to $9.5 billion this year, yet he said that reversing it is “not on my docket.” The House, however, has just taken action to force it onto his docket.
  • Newsom just announced yet another homelessness "plan." As I noted on Newsmax, he already squandered $24 billion as the homeless population exploded.

In addition, a new poll finds 71 percent of Californians support requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote. Yet only 2 percent of House Democrats voted for the SAVE Act, a bill I sponsored to enact this policy.

Meanwhile in DC: I demanded the FAA and air traffic control modernize its “floppy disk” tech; I interrogated the President of Haverford about the anti-Semitism and insanity on that campus; and tomorrow, I’m chairing an important hearing on school choice.

The latter comes as, at my urging, the Educational Choice for Children Act has just been adopted as part of the “big beautiful bill” that will soon pass the House. This is the biggest win for school choice in decades. The steady decline of American education could soon be over.
