The corrupt scheme to undermine the End Prop. 47 initiative is blowing up.
Newspapers from the Sac Bee to the LA times to the SF Chronicle are denouncing the “shady” plan. Several Democrats in the Legislature have withdrawn their support. And leaked emails show the Governor’s chief of staff tried to cancel the vote and bully initiative proponents.
Still, the Governor and his allies are pressing ahead with “poison pills” to undermine our bipartisan infinitive. Here is how we are fighting back:
I’ve organized a letter from the entire California Republican congressional delegation to Newsom, denouncing this attempt to thwart the will of voters.
I appeared on Fox News to make sure Americans understand the unthinkable corruption that has gripped California.
I gave a major speech on the House Floor explaining the disaster of Prop. 47 and the unprecedented scheme to stop our initiative.
The same politicians whose reckless policies have made our communities so unsafe are now trying to rob us of the opportunity we have earned to set California on a new course. We will not let this happen; we are insisting on a fair vote.
And it will be a new day for California. This is especially true when combined with a Supreme Court ruling expected any day now. All indications are the court will do what my amicus brief asks, allowing our communities to clear homeless encampments and protect public safety.
Meanwhile, the head of California High-Speed Rail testified the project is $100 billion short, and he’s hoping to “fill the gap” with federal funding. I gave my response in a Floor Speech: forget it. We need funding for our roads, not a historic boondoggle that won’t be finished this century.
