Next week, I am convening a hearing of the House Subcommittee on Workforce Protections titled “Biden’s War on Independent Contractors.” It will be my first hearing as Chairman.
You can see our official release here and Bloomberg’s article on the hearing here. My aim is to show what’s in store for the country if California’s disastrous policies are nationalized and Newsom’s acolyte Julie Su is elevated. Su, as it happens, will appear in the Senate for confirmation the very next day.
That’s on Wednesday; on Monday, I’ll be in New York. The Judiciary Committee is holding a special hearing to “examine how Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s pro-crime, anti-victim policies have led to a dangerous community for New York City residents.
I’ll be sure to note how California has suffered the same degradation from Soros prosecutors anbragg reckless policies. Case in point: a new bill would release serial killers and others sentenced to life or even the death penalty.
If voters had a say, they’d reject this insanity. In fact, on several recent occasions they’ve done just that, overturning laws passed by the Legislature. So now, of course, the Legislature is trying to take this referendum power away from California voters.
It’s what Newsom might call an “attack on democracy.” And it’s hard to imagine a Governor having a more embarrassing week than he’s just had. His “Red State” tour fell flat as San Francisco spiraled further into chaos and new state rankings for income growth put California dead last.
Next week will be our Counter Tour: showcasing the reality of Newsom’s California (and Bragg’s New York) as a warning to the nation
