Here is some background information if you’d like to include it in your post:
This week the California Legislature has one last chance to vote on repealing Assembly Bill 5 before adjourning for the year. A list of Californians who oppose the law will be given to Governor Newsom and every California Legislator on Monday. Add your name to the list below.
AB 5 is a new state law that banishes Uber and Lyft as we know them from California. They only remain in operation at this moment by the grace of a judge’s emergency order issued late Thursday. But that’s just temporary. If the law isn’t changed, they will be forced to leave.
Uber and Lyft and their 100,000 California drivers are just the tip of the iceberg. By effectively banning independent work, AB 5 has ruined more lives than any law in recent history. It has already ended the careers of Californians in literally hundreds of professions, and is a major reason California’s unemployment rate is nearly the highest in the country.
