Kamala Harris came to town to prop up Richard Pan’s campaign. Things did not go as planned. By the end of the day, the Harris and Pan camps were openly feuding.

Perhaps sensing Pan was toxic, Harris did a fly-by speech of about 4 minutes. She started by attacking me, using some interesting verbiage: “well this guy who was that guy and is still this guy and that guy.”

Controversy ensued when it was learned KCRA and the New York Times were banned from the event. Pan tried to blame Harris: “All credentialing…was directed by VP Kamala Harris’ office.” Harris denied this and blamed Pan: “Pan’s campaign fully handled press.”

As KCRA’s headline read: “Kamala Harris, Richard Pan blocked journalists from covering a Sacramento area campaign event Friday. Their teams are now blaming each other.” Then it got worse for Richard.

KCRA’s Ashley Zavala managed to track him down – no small feat, given the campaign’s strategy of hiding the candidate. Pan’s response has gone viral. Refusing to look at the reporter, he first denied, then blamed staff, then refused to answer, then was whisked away by a handler.

KCRA closed its report by stating: “We have offered to host a debate…We’ve also offered to do a sit-down one-on-one interview with Dr. Pan to talk about what he’d like to accomplish. But Dr. Pan’s campaign has been mostly ignoring those requests for the last couple of months.”

Meanwhile, gas in California is now $6.39, nearly 80 cents higher than second-place Hawaii. I joined CNN to discuss how we’re fighting the overarching Sacramento policies that caused this. As Ohio has suspended its gas tax in a bipartisan vote, I’m calling on California to do the same.

Ballot start arriving today. The race is tied. And so much is at stake for our area, state, and country.
