Gavin Newsom has announced his most corrupt scheme yet. He is plotting to abolish California's voter-approved Citizens Redistricting Commission, seize its powers for himself, and relegate Republicans to just 3 congressional seats out of 52.

Last year, Newsom sent his own staffer to run against me. That failed, so he’s now resorted to re-drawing my district in a rigged map. In fact, Newsom’s “gerrymander” would leave Republicans with 6 percent of the state’s seats in Congress, even though we average 41 percent of the vote.

I’m leading the opposition to Newsom’s brazen plan, which involves calling a Special Election in a few months and tricking voters to abolish the Redistricting Commission. I believe we can stop him; Newsom tried something similar last year to subvert Prop. 36, and failed spectacularly.

Meanwhile, we've learned that of the $100 million raised at the celebrity "Fire Aid" concert, none went directly to LA fire victims. Instead the money went to nonprofits, some of which have nothing to do with fire relief. I’m working on an investigation with the Judiciary Committee.

In DC this week: two of my bills to protect independent contractors passed out of committee; I asked FEMA to make up for Biden’s broken promises to California fire victims; and I showed how Newsom committed a felony by suggesting our state withhold federal taxes.

I also went on CNN to compare Newsom’s California to the rest of the country. We now have the highest unemployment, with 0 jobs added this year, while one million have been added across America. We also have the highest gas prices by far, while prices are at a record low nationwide.

Finally, a new poll finds 63 percent of Californians are opposed to Newsom's Gas Car Ban. Of course, with the passage of my Resolution to overturn it, the ban is gone. We also just took away Newsom’s funding for High-Speed Rail. Predictably, he’s responded with a frivolous lawsuit.
