Rachel Maddow has become oddly obsessed. This last week, she featured me on her MSNBC show four times. In one episode, she aired footage of a rally held by the far-left “Indivisible” group, where they had a life-size cardboard cutout of me on stage alongside profane signs.
It appears, in other words, that we are over the target. The full-fledged harassment campaign by Indivisible – picketing my district office, jamming my phone lines, staging fake events – is happening because we are winning, victory after victory. And we won't let them stop us.
For instance, as I discussed on Newsmax, half of California voters now say they'd vote for a Republican Governor. Nearly 70 percent already voted to pass Prop. 36 and make crime illegal again. And one million new GOP voters have registered since Newsom took office.
They are also unhappy I’ve brought attention to an inconvenient fact: Newsom is literally bankrupting Medi-Cal. In a TV debate last night with a Newsom-supporting CA Congressman, I noted the annual cost of benefits for illegal immigrants has tripled to $9.5 billion.
In one of the biggest scandals in state history, Newsom is now taking out an “emergency loan” to stave off insolvency. Meanwhile, our legal residents can't get a doctor's appointment. My bill, HR 584, will end this insanity, safeguarding Medi-Cal for only our legal residents.
And the arrogance of the CA Coastal Commission knows no bounds. The Commission has responded to my bill to strip their powers by saying the legislation "doesn't have anything to do with us." In reality, the bill is entirely designed to rein in this out-of-control agency.
Also in DC this week, I spoke in favor of a bill to root out foreign influence by China and others at American universities and cross-examined a liberal Democrat who was making false claims about CCW holders. Up next week: a hearing to stop overreach by activist judges.
