Some incredible news: the Public Policy Institute of California just released a new poll, and Prop. 36 has a commanding 71-26 lead. Even two-thirds of Democrats support it. This is the initiative we qualified for the ballot to end the Prop. 47 disaster.
Newsom, of course, is fighting tooth and nail against it, and even tried to cancel the election several times. His rection, upon hearing he’s getting crushed in the polls, says it all: “I was wondering what state I’m living in.”
Simply put, he’s living in a state that is leaving his reckless polices behind. In fact, we are already seeing major change in cities across California. Thanks to our victory at the Supreme Court, they are taking down homeless encampments and making our communities safer.
You can watch my speech on the House Floor about the imminent passage of Prop. 36, the hope it provides for California’s future, and what a ringing repudiation it is of the reckless pro-criminal path our state has been led down.
It has been a busy week in DC. We passed legislation this week to increase President Trump’s Secret Service protection and passed a bill I’m co-sponsoring to stop another endless State of Emergency. And my Free Speech on Campus Act passed the full House.
I also cross-examined the head of the Federal Aviation Administration for delaying the flight of SpaceX’s Starship rocket over trivial paperwork. The video has been viewed over 20 million times. After the exchange, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk called for his resignation.
Speaking of resignations: the President of Rutgers University has stepped down. He is the 4th university leader ousted after testifying in our committee’s investigation, joining the former Presidents of Harvard, Penn, and Columbia. The reckoning for American universities continues.
